Once you've finished Initial Training and gone on to pass your Category Training, you can continue to specialise in your chosen field or on request possibly move into another one.

In some cases your training may take place interstate or overseas once you have qualified in your Category or Specialisation.

As well as specialist training courses, the Navy also operates promotion courses that prepare you for higher rank and the responsibilities that go along with it.

Defence Assisted Study Scheme

One of our ongoing training options is the Defence Assisted Study Scheme, which allows officers and sailors to identify a course they wish to study and to receive time off from the Service to complete classes and sit exams.
