You could work in range of trades or undertake different apprenticeships for the Army. Fitter Armaments are the Army’s equivalent of a fitter and turner. You will maintain a diverse range of weapon systems, small engines and miscellaneous equipment and work on everything from 9mm pistols, sniper rifles to 0.50 Calibre Machine Guns, to artillery guns and 120mm tank armaments. Fitter Armament offers you the opportunity to obtain a highly sought after trade as well as the experiences of being an Army soldier.

As an Army Metalsmith, you will specialise in the joining, deforming and treating of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, polymers and ceramics. You’ll also work with metals in the form of castings, sheets, bars and formed sections, heat treatment, sheet cutting, power presses, and welding with gas, electric arc and oxyacetylene equipment.

Critical to the operation of this equipment is our valued team of Telecommunications Systems Technicians. As a technician you will learn to deploy, operate and maintain a range of military and commercial communications equipment to provide voice and data services in support of the Army within Australia and overseas.
