Pay & Allowances
Australian Defence Force Academy
First year of training: $21,146 per year ($811 per fortnight).*
Second year of training: $25,213 per year ($967 per fortnight).*
Third year of training: $31,719 per year ($1,217 per fortnight).*
Fourth year of training: $33,753 per year ($1,295 per fortnight).*
Salary (excluding allowances) on completion of military and employment training will be:
$53,269 per year ($2043 per fortnight).*
To assist you in maintaining your uniforms in good order and condition, you will also receive a Uniform Allowance of $16 per fortnight ($419 per year).
Your salary will continue to increase based on your rank and the number of years of service completed in that rank. Your Pay Group may increase following the acquisition of additional skills and completion of further training. Refer to the Salary Scales for further details.
Trainees with dependants may be entitled to Trainee's Dependant Allowance which is paid to enable trainees with dependants to receive a salary not less than $1,406 per fortnight ($36,658 per year) while training. Conditions apply. Speak to your Careers Counsellor for details.

Graduate
While undertaking Military Training at RMC: $1,295 per fortnight ($33,753 per year).*
To assist you in maintaining your uniforms in good order and condition, you will also receive a Uniform Allowance of $16 per fortnight ($419 per year). This increases to $26 per fortnight ($682 per year) after commissioning.
Degree qualified Civil Engineer Officer Cadets graduate from RMC with the rank of Lieutenant and a salary of $2043 per fortnight ($53,269 per year).* For further details, refer to the Salary Scales.
In addition to your salary, you will also receive Service Allowance of $409 per fortnight ($10,672 per year) except while as a Staff Cadet at the Royal Military College of Australia or undertaking Employment training. This allowance compensates a member for the unique requirements that service life may impose on an individual and his or her family.

Graduate (Reserve)
While undergoing Initial Officer Training, degree qualified trainees receive $80.45 per day.
On completion of Military Training, daily rates of pay for degree qualified Reserve Force Officers commence at $117.62 per day.
In addition to your salary, a Service Allowance of $11.01 per day is payable to compensate for the unique demands of Reserve Service.
