Darren Goldsmith - Tiger Avionics Technician

Darren joined the Army as an avionics technician because he needed something extra in his life and had always dreamed of working with aircraft. He works on the ARH Tiger, a brand new, state of the art helicopter being currently introduced into the Army. The main part of his job is maintaining and installing various electrical components on the aircraft, although a big benefit of working in the army is never knowing what tomorrow will bring. Every day is different.

You’ll fly within Australia and possibly overseas. Your initial flying will be with helicopter units, but you may convert to fixed wing, or be selected to train as a Qualified Flying Instructor. To apply for this role you will need to apply as a General Service Officer, and while due consideration is given, you aren't guaranteed of being allocated to the Corps of your choice.
