Soldiers complete Army Recruit training at Kapooka, NSW, where they will study military and weapons combat training among many other subjects. Initial Training for officers includes command, leadership and military tactics and is run in five training blocks, the first being conducted at Kapooka and the last at the Royal Military College Duntroon. Army Reserve salaries and allowances are all tax free, so it really is a second job worth having. Apart from the most obvious benefit of flexible work hours, you also receive many of the fantastic benefits we offer all our ADF members. You will receive free accommodation and meals whenever you are out training or completing exercises. Your uniform and equipment are free which includes cooking equipment, wet weather gear, a sleeping bag and backpack. Any travel undertaken for initial or employment training is paid for. The Employer Support Scheme aims to financially compensate business owners who release their employees for service in the Army Reserve. This scheme is about allowing reservists to protect their civilian jobs and to give something back to the employers who release them for part-time duty to the Army. It benefits everyone.
